EXAMPLE ITINERARY & MAP

SATURDAY

Fly into Palma de Mallorca, airport code PMI, and catch a taxi to Cala Nova marina. We will board the boat, get settled and head out for an amazing Spanish dinner!

SUNDAY

Do a chart briefing, systems overview and check all the equipment on the boat. Set sail for the the most beautiful white sand beach on the entire island, Es Trenc. Anchor, swim and enjoy the turquoise water. After some fun, do your first formal lessons aboard.

MONDAY

After a detailed look at engine operation and maintenance, head out and learn how to sail! You’ll learn points of sail, sail theory, and then head out to practice your sail trim. Sail up the coast to Cala D’Or a beautiful bay filled with lots of yachts, and an abundance of fine dinning restaurants overlooking the bay. Get your first taste of “med mooring”!

TUESDAY

After a brief morning lesson, motor down the coast to Mondrago, a beautiful marine park. Learn anchoring techniques and then go for a swim or explore the caves along the rocky bay. After lunch, pop the sails and chart a course for Cabrera island. Anchor under the shadow of the old fortress and enjoy this stunning anchorage.

WEDNESDAY

Hike up to the top of the fortress and enjoy the breathtaking views over the island. After summiting, head down to the small “cantina” on the island for a cold beer and some tapas. You’ll spend the rest of the day here in Cabrera wrapping up lessons, testing and just enjoying the anchorage.

THURSDAY

Chart a course and set sail for Porto Vells, just over 30 nautical miles away. This will be a fun passage! By this point you will be in charge of all the charting, navigation, sail trim and be the captains for this leg. Upon arrival drop the anchor in the lovely little cove at Porto Vells, explore the beach, or go for a paddle board session.

FRIDAY

We weigh anchor early and sail to Illetes, a beautiful little anchorage. Take your final tests and celebrate passing! After lunch it’s the final sail back to marina Cala Nova for docking practice. Friday night we will go out to celebrate all our new captains, and then spend that final night on the boat.

SATURDAY

We are off the boat by 8am and you are free to fly home, or take a couple of extra days to explore the rest of the beautiful island of Mallorca!

“I wasn’t very familiar with boating and less with sailing. Learned a lot while still enjoying every minute of it. The Sea of Cortez was an excellent sailing destination. ” G.D., Missouri
