SATURDAY
Plan on arriving at the marina and boat in the beautiful town of Trogir by mid afternoon. Boarding time for the boat is usually between 3pm-5pm. We HIGHLY recommend you arrive at least a day early so that you have time to explore the amazing UNESCO World Heritage town of Trogir! Once we board the boat, we will unpack, do a welcome briefing, and head ashore for an evening meal to get acquainted.
SUNDAY
It’s up early for your first boat briefings! After running through boat equipment checklists, and doing a charter briefing to learn about the route and the area, we will head out! We will start to get comfortable operating the boat, do some man overboard drills under power, and cover the basics of sailing. Today we sail to gorgeous bay on the west side of the island of Solta. Arrive, go for a swim and enjoy a class of wine at sunset!
MONDAY
Today we really practice the fundamentals of sailing! From raising and trimming sails, tacking, and gybing, sailing will begin to make a lot more sense. The challenge for the day is then to sail to a small group of islands opposite the famous town of Hvar. We stop for the night at a lovely marina, where a short stroll through the forest brings you to a gorgeous white sand beach on the other side of the island. At sunset hop in a water taxi and go explore the ancient town of Hvar, and enjoy a delicious meal ashore.
TUESDAY
Today is one of our longer sails and a chance to really put those new skills to the test! We plot a course for the island of Vis, learning charting, plotting, navigation and the use of the latest navigation software. Tonight we med moor off the “Riva” the ocean boardwalk in Vis. Step ashore to grab an espresso, gelato or a glass of wine overlooking this beautiful town.
WEDNESDAY
We enjoy the chance to cover more systems onboard, take some ASA tests, and then have a chance to play on the Island of Vis. There is so much to see and do, but some of the options include visiting a local winery built in an underground World War 2 bunker, taking a scooter to the lovely seaside town of Komiza, or visiting the abandoned submarine base carved into the rocks.
THURSDAY
Passage day! We cast off the dock lines and set sail for the town of Milna, on the island of Brac. We stop in a gorgeous cove for lunch, a swim and some anchoring practice. As we enter Milna, work on your docking skills, practice med mooring, wrap up another ASA written test and you are then free to wander this quaint little seaside town.
FRIDAY
As confident captains, we turn the boat over to you and let you chart the course for the day, and sail us back to the marina at Trogir! Endless possibilities for a beautiful lunch time anchorage, and then it’s back to Trogir. Tonight we go out and celebrate all the new captains, and reflect on what a great week we’ve had in Croatia!
