Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez "The Aquarium of the World". A stunning place to sail, deserted coves teeming with marine life, and a lack of crowds make this one of our favorite sailing destinations. Spend a week aboard a 41 foot Morgan sailboat, and earn the experience and certification needed to charter sailboats in exotic destinations around the world. Upon successful completion of this course participants will earn American Sailing Association 101-104 Certifications (Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter certifications).

The Boat
We sail on a 41 foot Morgan "Out Island" Ketch. She has all the amenities one would expect to find on charter boats around the world.

We take a maximum of 4 students. The boat has a large owner’s cabin, which we hold for couples, and two beds up in the V berth, along with two heads/bathrooms:

Sailing Course Curriculum
During our time aboard the boat, we will cover and practice all of the following skills in depth. Having a whole week on the boat means that you will have a wealth of opportunities to apply each of these skills, so that by the end of the trip you will be confident and competent in every area.

As topics are covered, we will give ASA tests for levels 101, 103 and 104 for your formal certification. All of the material found in the tests will have been covered in depth, and students should have no trouble passing.

Course Instructors
All of our liveaboard courses are taught by excellent instructors, with a wealth of sailing experience. Nautilus Sailing instructors are knowledgeable, patient and dynamic teachers. They are able to tailor instruction to meet students diverse learning needs and styles. Passionate about sailing and adventure, they love helping others embark on their own sailing journeys. Trip Costs
The all inclusive price of $1899 per person, covers the cost of the sailboat, accommodations onboard the boat each night, and 3 meals per day onboard. Also covered in the cost are all textbooks, certification materials, and ASA membership. Airfare is not included. For couples that book together, we offer a $300 discount for the spouse.
Airfare
There are several ways to get to La Paz. The most economical, and our favorite, is to fly into Cabo San Lucas (airport code SJD). There are direct flights from most major US hubs, typically costing $199-$399. From the Cabo San Lucas airport, there is a shuttle company that will drive you the 3 hours to La Paz, in one of their brand new air conditioned mini vans for $26. The other option is to fly directly into La Paz. La Paz is a small airport, with only a few flights in per day, and flights are therefore much more expensive ($800-$1000).
Booking
For more information or to reserve a spot on one of our La Paz trips, email us or call us at (800) 680-7902. A $750 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. Payment in full is due 60 days prior to the trip.
Cancellation policy
The trip fees are non-refundable in the event of trip participants having to cancel.
